mspdebug software package provides debugging tool for MSP430 microcontrollers, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mspdebug
mspdebug is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mspdebug package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mspdebug *
You will get with mspdebug package name, version, architecture and description in a table
